Rich graduated from the University of Utah, College of Law in 1988. Before partnering in the firm of Schatz, Anderson & Uday in 2007, Rich operated his own law practice focusing almost exclusively on defending those charged with committing criminal offenses. Rich represents clients charged with all felony crimes including homicide, arson, robbery, forgery, sexual offenses, theft crimes, assaults, DUI and all other drug- and alcohol-related charges. Rich's practice also continues to include preparing and arguing appeals before the Utah Supreme Court and the Utah Court of Appeals.

During his law practice Rich has been active in both the local and the legal communities. Rich was a tenured professor and directed the Paralegal Studies Program at the Salt Lake Community College for over thirteen years. He is a member of the Utah State Bar, the Salt Lake County Bar, the American Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Rich's valuable experiences practicing law and teaching law classes led Rich to accept a position where he assisted in organizing and then acted as director of the Lawyers Helping Lawyers Program, an American Bar Association approved program dedicated to assisting fellow attorneys, paralegals and family members experiencing difficulties with alcohol, drug addiction or mental health issues. Rich has a great understanding and a wealth of experience in cases involving drug and alcohol possession and usage and cases involving mental health issues.

Rich's strengths are his intellect, his experience, his compassion and his understanding of the circumstances facing you when charged with committing a criminal act. With over twenty-plus years of experience, Rich has earned his well-deserved reputation as the lawyer you need to have representing you.
