Severe DUI Penalties for Commercial Driver's License Holders
People who drive for a living face even tougher consequences if they are convicted of a DUI charge. These tougher consequences — which could result in lost work opportunities — make it critically important to seek immediate legal help if you are arrested on a DUI and you hold a commercial driver's license.
At the criminal defense law firm of Schatz, Anderson & Uday, LLC, we have an active and successful practice defending clients against DUI charges and helping them save their driving privileges and most importantly their commercial driving privileges. Our attorneys represent clients throughout Utah, including communities like Salt Lake City, Provo and Ogden.
DUI Consequences for Commercial Driver's License Holders:
One-Year Suspension or Lifetime Revocation
Individuals with commercial driver's licenses (CDL) face serious penalties upon conviction for a DUI — whether or not they were in a commercial vehicle when they received the DUI. Upon conviction for a first DUI offense, the CDL will be automatically suspended for one year. Upon conviction for a second DUI offense, the CDL will be automatically subject to a lifetime revocation. These suspension and revocation rules are dictated by federal law and may not be appealed. A commercial driver may be eligible to reapply for a CDL ten years after a second DUI offense, if the driver can prove sufficient rehabilitation.
Proven Track Record in DUI Cases
Our law firm has a successful history of defending DUI cases. In the last five years, we have won hundreds of Driver License Hearings. SAU attorney Jason Schatz has been able to save the driver's licenses of approximately 54 percent of his clients. Although our lawyers can never guarantee a particular result in any given case, we can guarantee that we will provide you with an aggressive and knowledgeable defense.
